These volunteers believe\u00a0in giving back what was freely\u00a0given to them, fulfilling the 12th step of their own\u00a0program while ensuring that the\u00a0hand of AA <em>is<\/em> there for the\u00a0suffering alcoholic who reaches out for help. Individual AA members can sign up for one night a week or a 24 hour weekend shift &#8212; whichever best fits their schedules.&nbsp;The after-hours call times are: Monday through Friday from 1:30pm until 9:30am the following morning, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am through the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate, members need to fill out a sign-up sheet&nbsp; and then meet with a member of the subcommittee to go over the procedures and guidelines. If you are interested in volunteering for this service, and you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Have one year of sobriety<br>2) Are willing to fill out the form linked below<br>3) Are willing to commit to a regular weekly shift<br>4) Are willing to answer your phone to unknown callers<br>5) Are willing to answer with &#8220;Alcoholics Anonymous. COR\u2019s are responsible for voting their group\u2019s conscience at COR meetings and to inform the NCMCO Board about any concerns of their AA home group. The&nbsp;COR&nbsp;tries to keep their home group informed about what the Central Office is doing. COR\u2019s are responsible for participating in the&nbsp;&nbsp;quarterly&nbsp;COR meetings,&nbsp;to share their&nbsp;home group\u2019s experience in carrying the AA message and express how NCMCO may better serve the area\u2019s AA&nbsp;Community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-blue-color has-css-opacity has-blue-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#0071a1\">Inside the Walls<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Your job now is to be at the place where you may be of maximum helpfulness to others, so never hesitate to go anywhere if you can be helpful.\u201d <\/p>\n<cite><strong>Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 102&nbsp;<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Nearly 70 years ago, Warden Clinton Duffy asked A.A. members to bring an A.A. meeting into San Quentin. Today there are over 38,700 A.A.s in confinement and 1,555 prison groups throughout the United States and Canada. These meetings answer only a fraction of the need for more groups in correctional facilities all across the country.
